In February, I headed to Sydney where I was given the opportunity to style the new season of one of my favourite go-to brands, Rodeo Show. For those that have followed my work over the years, Rodeo Show has long been a fixture given it’s easy to wear separates and stand out party dresses.
Born amongst Sydney’s fashion elite on Oxford Street in 2003, the brand quickly grew a fashionable following for those seeking that key piece for their Saturday night out, wedding, engagement and all round occasion dressing. With the social butterfly their constant muse, the brands signature silks and flattering fits, always exude a feminine and playful aesthetic. When I was asked to style their 2016 Autumn/Winter 2016 collection with photographer Steven Chee behind the lens and one of my favourite make up artist’s Tobi Henney, I didn’t think twice about saying yes.
The 2016 Autumn/Winter collection, ‘After Dark‘, created in the spirit of rebellion, sixties mods & seventies Hollywood glamour, stars British model Camilla Babbington. The campaign infuses nostalgia with a mix of muted moody lighting to create a city ambiance that shifts from enigmatic to dreamy. Romantic yet daring, the collection also pays homage to the Victoriana trend with high impact after dark looks in seductive hues.
Rodeo Show supports my other go-to accessory brands, Amber Sceats and Olga Berg (OB) in their nine stores throughout Australia and e-boutique – so playing dress ups with the latest OB clutch bags with fringing and hard metals or styling up Camilla in bespoke chokers, gold ear cuffs and stack rings was really just another day at the office. With the seventies vibe key to the collection, I styled each look with a signature platform shoe – think Saint Laurent Gold Tributes, Alexander McQueen Mulberry statement heels and Wittner’s new season suede platforms.
The thing I love most about this collection, is the pieces are wearable and timeless. Given the busy woman of today doesn’t always have time to shop or even change, a lot of these looks will take you from day to night –the key is to dial up your accessories for the evening.
